Artspace 304 announces a new exhibition, Problem Gambling Awareness Art Show, opening Thursday, June 27. The exhibition showcases the “Are You Really Winning?” an art competition with the goal of bringing attention toward problem gambling. The contest called for submissions from resident high school students and adults across Illinois.



Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) announced the award recipients in early June. IDHS's Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (SUPR) works with providers to expand outreach and to raise awareness about the harms associated with gambling. The art competition program is part of the new "Are You Really Winning?" Campaign.



Award recipients:

?      Adrienne McConkie, Sycamore, IL, for the painting, titled “Finding Help”

?      Pamela Penney, Oak Park, IL for the textile installation, titled “Send Help”

?      Mackenzie Hulke, Normal, IL for the photograph, titled “Addiction”



The exhibition will be traveling across the state, with the first stop being in Carbondale, IL at Artspace 304. Please join us for the reception on Thursday, June 27 from 5-7pm. We will have refreshments as well as a opening remarks by IDHS’ Jim Wilkerson.
