Jazz Concert Featuring Ralph Hepola May 23 at Artsspace 304
On Thursday, May 23, Artspace 304 is hosting Ralph Hepola for a live jazz concert at 7pm. Hepola received a grant from the John Stites Jazz Awards of Michigan to fund his summer tour of jazz music, celebrating America’s musical art form. As a musician who plays the language of contemporary jazz on the tuba, Hepola is totally focused on ‘a new and innovative approach’, expanding the audience for jazz, and celebrating diverse national and international influences on the music.
Hepola will tour with Kansas City-born veteran guitarist John Strickler, Nashville bassist Seth Darby and up-and-coming drummer Daniel Pasquale. The tour, entitled “Take in a Jazz Festival this Summer!” will publicize ten major Upper Midwest jazz festivals, as well as smaller communities which have limited exposure to live jazz.
Join us, Thursday May 23 from 7-8:30pm for Ralph Hepola’s 2024 Jazz Tour at the Artspace 304 gallery, located at 304 W Walnut St in Carbondale. This event is free and open to the public. Please park in the First Christian Church parking lot, located on W Monroe St and S University Ave. For more information on Artspace 304’s exhibits, events and programs, please visit artspace304.org
