Book Sales Help Food Pantry
Carbondale, IL. Confluence Books held another Cookbook Swap Meet at the Carbondale Farmers Market to benefit the Good Samaritan Food Pantry. Freewill donations amounted to $176.43 and many leftover cookbooks were left at the food pantry to be given away.
Bookstore owner Sarah Heyer compared the donation to last fall’s total of $600 raised and observed that "either people have enough cookbooks (never!) or that fall is a better time to think about cooking."

The Cookbook Swap Meet is a twist on Confluence Books’ usual “Buck-a-Book” table, found most Saturdays at the Carbondale Farmers Market in Westowne Centre. May bucks will go to United Way’s Summer Reading Program.
