JACKSON COUNTY MASS TRANSIT UNVEILS NEW BRANDING AND WEBSITE New “JAX” Name and Brand Launched to Coincide with Major Service Improvements
Jackson County Mass Transit District (JCMTD) is unveiling a new name and brand - JAX. In addition to the new name and brand, JAX will release a new website, route maps, as well as a mobile app.
“The new name and brand were the culmination of a lot of work by staff, as well as our contractors, Arthur Agency and Pixo,” stated Shawn Freeman, Chief Executive Officer of the new JAX. “We could not be more pleased with how it turned out and are excited to show it off to the people in our community.”
JAX is currently going through major service improvements, including taking over the Saluki Express bus routes, making changes to other fixed routes, and expanding other service offerings. In addition, they will soon be relocating into new offices. All these changes will increase awareness of the transportation offerings that they provide, while improving service to its customers.
Service improvements that JAX has undertaken include:
• JAX Fixed Route System – JAX offers five fixed-routes that provide safe, affordable, and reliable transportation throughout the Carbondale and Murphysboro area. • JAX Rural Route System – JAX has a daily fixed deviated rural route that connects rural communities to the JAX Fixed Route System.
• JAX Micro Transit – Get home safe with this evening origin to destination mica transit service.
• JAX Paratransit – If you are a senior citizen or have a disability that prevents you from accessing the fixed route system, JAX offers a paratransit service in the Murphysboro and Carbondale area.
• Website and Mobile APP – JAX has launched a new website (launch Tuesday, October 8th) and mobile app, offering riders instant access to the JAX Fixed Route system, real time service updates and communication with the district. For more information visit www/.ridejax.com
“Given our limited budget, it’s vitally important that we design our service to provide the greatest benefit to the greatest number of residents of our County.” said Rich Whitney, Board Chair for JCMTD. “In addition to initiatives to improve our service for our on-call services, we have expanded the footprint for our fixed routes to serve more of Jackson County,” he added.
